JOSH DAVIS
as Scott Cohen
“This is a real family, a real fight, and a real man who almost had his entire life taken from him. There's nothing more interesting and meaningful as an actor than helping to tell a story like this. Scott is a flawed character (most of the interesting ones are), but he shows up anyway. He's a guy trying to do the right thing despite all the challenges he faces. Getting to portray someone like that and bring to light how many people are trapped in guardianship with no one in their corner is not only powerful, it's necessary.”
TOM JOHN HAIR
as Martin Cohen
“For me, as an actor and storyteller, portraying a character based upon a real life individual does and always will carry a feeling of privilege and serious responsibility. The emotional states visited upon the mentally fatigued Martin Cohen are sadly all too common in the lives of the aged who find themselves in his circumstances. I’ve opened my heart and striven for a truthful and empathetic portrayal of senior life searching for solid ground . I’ve experienced this project as being truthful and extremely worthwhile as not just entertainment, but as valuable food for thought in the lives of anyone who sees it.”
MARGARET REED
as Phyllis Cohen
“I’m honored to be entrusted with portraying her warmth, grace, humor, and compassion toward serving the emotional truth of the film. TJ was quite generous with sharing family photos and a detailed biography of his mom - her upbringing, her employment & charity work, her relationship with TJ’s father - plus his award-winning feature-length script. All these elements combined to aid my coach and me in delving into Phyllis’ character, her motivations - what she’s guarded about, what she’s still grieving, and where her humor comes from - the emotional landscape from which she came.”
TRINI ALVARADO
as Paige Carson
“I’m so thrilled to be a part of this project alongside Josh Davis, Tom John Hair, Margaret Reed, Ryan Spahn, and the rest of the amazing cast.
Todd is so inspiring to have gone through this harrowing ordeal and come out on the other side to share his experience. This is such an important story that could affect any one of us.”
“TJ Stein’s been in my life longer than almost anyone outside my family—we met when I was 17. I’m 46 now. That kind of history sticks. So when TJ asked me to help bring his family’s story to life—especially something as personal as his father’s experience in a guardianship—I was honored. And yeah, I felt a real responsibility to get it right. The Final Fight is about love holding a family together under pressure. It’s also very much TJ—his heart, his strength, his resilience. And doing it opposite dreamboat Josh Davis didn’t hurt. Made the whole thing feel easy in the best way.”
RYAN SPAHN
as Brad Kessler
“I was intrigued by the role of Annette Russo from the very beginning. It seems that a story is never quite as simple as it appears at first glance. Annette knew that her end was coming soon, and she allowed familial ties to warp her sense of duty to Martin. May we all gain the strength and clarity from this true story to treat our loved ones with the dignity and respect that they so richly reserve. Thank you, Todd, for entrusting me with the honor of portraying Annette.”
Ellen B. Williams
as Annette Russo
Adriana DeMeo
As Gina Russo
“I knew in the first few minutes of meeting with Todd that I wanted to be a part of this. With an open heart, he is sharing intimate details of his family life. I see a man working through family trauma in a positive, meaningful way…helping others to not experience the same negative effects of an ill intended guardianship. It’s extra special to me that has ran for local office to focus on the everyday rights of New Yorkers. He’s a real one. Gina is a challenging role and in it, I am always searching for the love. By the end of the film, we all are changed and we must ask ourselves, "did I do the right thing? Or was I acting selfishly? "
James Ciccone
as Ronnie “Hacks” Russo
“Having played a range of roles, from therapist to priest to cop to gangster, this one hit differently. Growing up in close proximity to the real-life events behind this story gave me an organic way into “Hacks,” a mobster inspired by an actual Colombo crime family figure (shhh… no names).
Hacks isn’t the most lovable guy, narcissistic, violent, self-centered, and incapable of compassion. Ironically, he uses his own family dynamic to manipulate and financially prey on the family of our lead.
Proud to be part of a story about passion, love, and family, one that also raises real questions about guardianship, the legal system, and family dynamics.”
Matthew David Cippaghila
as Officer Richardson
“Having known the real-life individuals this story is based on, I felt an immediate emotional connection to the material. What drew me to the role was the complexity of law enforcement in these situations, especially in cases of elder abuse, where the truth isn’t always clear and those with harmful intent can stay a step ahead through careful manipulation. I didn’t want to portray the police as simply antagonistic, but rather to highlight how a system designed to protect can sometimes be used against the very people it’s meant to serve.”
Mario Polit
as Eddie Morretti
“It is an honor to portray Eddie Moretti. We all know an "Eddie", the dependable neighbor, the good guy who looks out for his community. I felt a deep, personal connection to him from the start. Because this is a true story, I also felt a profound responsibility to Todd and his family to keep my performance grounded in truth. Collaborating with such a talented cast was inspiring; they pushed me to bring my absolute best to every scene. Ultimately, Todd’s story is a necessary one. I hope this film provides a voice and a roadmap for anyone navigating the complexities of the guardianship system.”
